Loose Ring Snaffle
The Loose Ring Snaffle is one of the basic training bits, it is used to teach a horse to yeild to direct rein pressure. When rein pressure is applied, the jointed mouthpiece first makes contact with the corners of the horse's mough, then the bars, followed by the sides of the tongue. The mouthpiece rotates around the ring and directs pressure to a smaller area. Because of that pressure point, the Loose Ring Snaffle is considered slightly more severe when compared to a Fixed Ring Snaffle.

Dee Ring Snaffle
This is one of the most basic forms of bitting, the Dee Ring Snaffle is a relatively mild snaffle that comes in a variety of mouthpieces. Named after it's "D" shaped rings, the design spreads pressure over a large area of the horses's mouth when compared to a loose ring snaffle that directs pressure to the corners of the mouth. whether you are starting a horse, or just going back to the basics, this bit helps with lateral movement while achieving suppleness form jaw to tail.

Offset Dee
An Offset Dee snaffle is considered a fixed-butt snaffle because the mouthpiece does not rotate around the ring. The fixed-butt spreads the pressure over a larger area of the horse's mouth and will not pinch when compared to a loose ring snaffle that directs pressure to the corners of the mouth. When you initiate direct rein contact to one side of the mouth with an Offset Dee, you are also pulling on the opposite side of the mouth because of the bit's construction.

Twisted Wire Snaffle
A Twisted Wire Snaffle is used to lighten response when a horse becomes heavy on the bit. Working on the corners of the horse's mouth the twisted wire tenders the area more than a smooth snaffle. Smaller diameter twisted wire mouthpieces are more severe than larger diameter mouthpieces.

Eggbutt Snaffle
A very mild bit, the Eggbutt Snaffle is designeed wide enough at the butt to be gentle on the bars and will not pinch the horse's mouth. Getting its name from the shape of the ring, the Eggbutt is considered a fixed-butt snaffle because the mouthpiece does rotate around the ring. When you initiate direct rein contact on one side of the horse's mouth, you are also pulling on the opposite side of the mouth.

Tom Thumb Snaffle
One of the moast basic shanked type snaffle bits, the Tom Thumb Snaffle serves as an excellent transition bit from a Ring Snaffle to a longer shanked snaffle or to a Curb Bit. This bit uses a small amount of curb pressure or leverage. The loose cheeks move independently allowing for more lateral flexibility.

Training Snaffle
